Nelson Mandela Peace Park Project!

We have a great project that’s starting this weekend and we could use some help! GCAT has received 2 grants to help improve the Nelson Mandela Peace Park (the playground on Evaline street). The city has agreed to re-paint and repair the playground equipment. With the grant money we will be installing a butterfly garden at the park. We will have 4 volunteer days:

  • Prep-day & Garden Bed Building: Saturday May 25 from 9-12pm
  • Prep-day & Garden Bed Building: Saturday June 1 9-12pm
  • Kids Mosaic Workshop @ Assemble: Saturday June 1, 1-4pm
Help us decorate the Nelson Mandela Peace Park in Garfield!  We will be making mosaic pavers for the new garden.  Pavers will be used at the park as plant markers and feature important dates in Nelson Mandela’s life. Learn a little history and make some art!  All materials provided.
  • Saturday June 8th – Big Volunteer Work Day (please come to this if you can)
Planting Day: & Install Mosaic Pavers:  9am-12pm
  • Rain Dates: Saturdays June 15, 16, 22, or 29th.

If you can help out any of these days, please sign-up on the form below which days you can be there. This will help us ensure we have enough drinks, snacks, and equipment. Everyone is welcome, kids, parents, friends, pets, etc.
