Install Rain Barrels at Gator Garens!

rain barrel install_2013

GCAT & PULSE along with the Student Conservation Assocation (SCA) will be installing rain barrels at Garfield’s Community Garden, Gator Gardens!  SCA has generously given GCAT a grant to install 4 rain barrels at the site to help conserve water and to use for watering the garden beds.  SCA will also be helping to create a “hugelkultur” (learn more about what this is from our GCAT Volunteer, Don Orkiskey) along a hillside edge to prevent erosion.

Join GCAT, and SCA Volunteers Aug 24th from 10am-1pm to help with this project!

  • Learn about rain barrel installation and all-natural erosion control, hugelkultur.
  • Meet other Garfield residents!
  • Get a free lunch!

We’ll be meeting at Gator Gardens, 5414 Kincaid Street.
