Rebuilding Kite Hill Park

KH 4-26-15 7

If you live up in the hills of Garfield you might have noticed a lot of people working on Kite Hill Park these past few weeks.  GCAT has been able to partner with several volunteer groups from UPitt, CMU, and FEMA to help with improvements to the park.  Lead by GCAT volunteer, Gary Cirrincone, volunteers have cleared away most of the overgrowth on the hillside making it easier to see into the park from the street. This weekend volunteers from FEMA helped create a “stump hop” for kids using an oak tree that was recently cut down from a neighbors yard. Gary has also secured some funding from the Sprout Fund to purchase picnic tables for the park as well.  The park is slowly transforming into a family friendly place to enjoy this summer.  Stay-tuned for more updates about Kite Hill Park.
