Garfield Pitch-in Cans Find Homes

5-7-16-01

Many of these beautifully painted trash cans you’ve seen through out Garfield this summer.  Each can was painted by a local  artist and adopted by a Garfield resident to maintain for the year.  This project was made possible by the Sprout Fund, Bloomfield Garfield Corporation, Assemble, and Most Wanted Fine Art!

Fifteen residents adopts trash cans this summer, in effort to help combat the ongoing litter problem in Garfield.  In a recent survey with the residents, they have noticed that litter is less prevalent around their cans.  However, they continue to encourage neighbors to all “pitch-in” and keep their properties litter free.

Continue to look out for the Pitch-In trash cans through out the neighborhood.  Litter and dumping is still a problem in Garfield but with more residents engaged and helping to clean-up, the difference is noticeable.  If you have any questions about our project, or if you’re interested in helping with Garfield litter clean-ups, please reach out to us at gcatpgh@gmail.com
